About Us

This website is a service for meeting and convention planners and all other travelers who need to know whether labor disputes could affect their Atlantic City plans. It is brought to you by UNITE HERE’s Fair Hotel program and the almost 10,000 members of UNITE HERE Local 54, the largest private sector union in South Jersey. Our members work as housekeepers, bartenders, cocktail servers, cooks, bell staff, doormen, and other service jobs in the casinos and hospitality industry in and around Atlantic City. Together, we are building a movement to enable people of all backgrounds to achieve greater equality and opportunity.

At their peak, COVID-19 shutdowns laid off 98% of UNITE HERE members, who faced the hardships of COVID-19 with grit and determination. Together, we are fighting for a recovery where no one gets left behind. Local 54 members continue to fight for quality and affordable health care, a secure retirement, home ownership and college for their kids. Local 54 remains strong with a growing membership and thousands of active union members.
